Coulter Watch: Pundit Says Democratic Party Full of ‘Brain-Damaged People’: “NEW YORK Ann Coulter demonized Democrats again in her Wednesday column about the Alito hearings.

“The Universal Press Syndicate pundit wrote: ‘In the history of the nation, there has never been a political party so ridiculous as today’s Democrats. It’s as if all the brain-damaged people in America got together and formed a voting bloc.’

“She also said ‘the sole item on the Democrats’ agenda is abortion,’ later adding that the party stands for ‘the right of women to have unprotected sex with men they don’t especially like.’”

I shouldn’t even dignify this with a post, but I kind of feel like saying, “Nyah, takes one to know one, slag!”

Alright, first, it’s not the Democrats who go around pandering to radicals whose stated goal is to undermine the great non-sectarian experiment that is the US by establishing a particularly virulent and intolerant brand of Christianity as the law of the land. You want to talk about brain-damaged? You think once the grand theocracy is in place you’ll escape stoning for whoring yourself around the country?

It’s the Democrats who have generally fought for policies to help others while the Republicans seem to support policies to help themselves. It’s the Democrats who passed the Civil Rights bills, at great expense; it’s the Republicans who implemented the “Southern Strategy” to welcome racists into the party. Brain-damaged? If supporting personal autonomy and personal dignity means one is brain-damaged, then sign me up to get hit over the head more often.

Second, abortion is not the Democrats’ issue. It’s very obviously the Republicans’. Legalized abortion is settled law. It’s been affirmed. The Democrats have no interest in bringing it up; why would they? The current law enshrines the Democrats’ position on the issue. It’s not Democrats who are fighting to change the status quo. They only respond to attempts to change the status quo.

So. Absolutely. Brain dead.

Half the time I think she doesn’t mean it. I’m certain if, one dark boring night, Ann stumbled across this entry, she would laugh. This is exactly the kind of reaction she wants. She’s a clown; she does this for the attention, to get a reaction. She’s the annoying kid in kindergarden who drives the teacher batty. I honestly don’t know if she means it; I don’t know if it would be any better to know that she doesn’t.

Not that I expect anything will come of it. Much bigger truths have been revealed and ignored by the public and the press over the last 5 years than this; but it might be funny.
