Recommendation: iFlash
February 4th, 2006If you use a Macintosh computer (and you should) and you’re trying to learn something with a lot of vocabulary, it’s hard to go wrong by getting iFlash. I’m using it right now to help me learn Latin, but I’m planning to start a deck for Biology as well. It’s cheap, and the developer is extremely responsive to issues judging from the forum posts I’ve read.
I first found it via its review in MacWorld, and I have to say it’s got a great feature set. Cards can have pictures and audio, more than two “sides” (e.g. I put the Latin meaning on one side, the English on one side, the gender on another (if it’s a noun) or other notes, etc.) Study mode allows for learned cards to be “dropped” from the rotation if you wish, or can instead merely be reduced in showing frequency.
Anyway, it’s a great program. Check it out.
